FISC Māori Representative – Calls for expression of interest

We are looking for someone to represent Māori on the Forest Industry Safety Council, a not-for-profit that works to protect the safety and wellbeing of people working in forestry and that runs Safetree.

The ideal candidate:

  1. Would be a representative of an Iwi, or an Iwi affiliated business leader
  2. Would have good knowledge of the forest industry
  3. Would have broad leadership in the community, strong governance skills and strategic focus
  4. Would be willing to share local cultural insights with the Council, including Tikanga, Kawa and its relationship with safety and wellbeing
  5. Would be willing to coach and lead the Council in adopting appropriate protocols for meetings, events, and other engagements.

The work commitment involves preparing for, and attending, Council meetings. There are 6-8 meetings per year with 2-3 face to face in Wellington and the others via Zoom meetings.

The Council will meet costs for travel and remuneration for meeting attendance.
