Planning is critical to the success of a forestry operation. The more planning done before work begins, the smoother – and safer – the operation should go.

Safetree has created a resource, How to make a Work Plan, outlining the main plans that make up a forestry work plan.

The booklet includes plan examples, which are also available as individual files on the Safetree website. These can be printed out and included in your own work plan.

Remember, even the best plan needs to change if the situation changes – many of the plans may need to be reviewed, discussed and agreed on each day, usually at the tailgate meeting.
